Let me catch you up.... August in Paris 2010

Paris is by far the most beautiful, soulful, authentic place I've ever had the privilege to visit. I spent two weeks during the summer of 2010, along with my good friends, Heidi, and Brent, and my insufferably handsome boyfriend, John. Languid four hour meals, digestifs, cheese plates, du pain, du pate, whole food markets... just a pace of life that is slow enough to catch the nuances provided by merely existing. This pace, socially encouraged, is free of guilt and American heavy handed-ness. Oh, and the street art!

Bricolage: a term used in several disciplines, among them the visual arts, to refer to the construction or creation of a work from a diverse range of things that happen to be available, or a work created by such a process. The term is borrowed from the French word bricolage, from the verb bricoler, the core meaning in French being, "fiddle, tinker" and, by extension, "to make creative and resourceful use of whatever materials are at hand (regardless of their original purpose)". A person who engages in bricolage is a bricoleur. (thanks wiki)

Okay so there you have it- I am a hopeless 'bricoleur'. This is my forum to bring it all together in the name of Vernacular Design Studio. I am excited to share and chronicle my passions with you. I welcome feedback, productive, thoughtful commentary, and conversation.
